Getting back in the groove!

Today marks the first day that Monika and I are getting settled back into our "new life" after our MBA program! We ran a short 4 miler today to get us going again. We are running the Muddy Buddy on June 20th and the Peachtree 10k on July 4th so we are training for that now. The Muddy Buddy is a bike and run event, so we will start training on the bikes this week as well!

Last long run before the half marathon

We ran our last long training day before the half marathon today. 10.3 miles in 2 hours and 11 minutes. I plotted out a fantastic route - it still has plenty of hills, but its spread out a bit more with no major (i.e. 1 mile stretches) of uphill.

Here is a link to the course - the whole course in google has "street view", which is a great feature in trying to lay out running courses:

I think we are ready for next weekend - our goal is to finish in under 3 hours.

Spring has sprung - our first 9 miles!

I'll keep this short and sweet as i'm exhausted and its time for bed! The weather has finally gotten warmer and Monika and i got to do our first outside run today as part of our half marathon training. We did 9 miles and though our pace was a bit slowed by some serious hills (see elevation changes below) we kept it to 1 hour and 50 minutes. I'm looking for a better route for our 10 miles next weekend! One mile of all uphill was a tough.

Major Milestone today!

This was a good week in terms of training. I am now back under 195 and today Monika and I ran our first 7 mile training session. We both finished it in 1 hour 11 minutes, so we are on track with our goals.

We signed up for an additional 10k that my work is sponsoring for the Atlanta Community Food Bank on March 1, so it feels good to know we will be able to complete it (7 miles is 11.2k).

I'm hoping to get under 190 by next week, which is a huge milestone for me... been trying to get back to that weight since 2000. My original goal was 185, but i think i'll go for 180 and have 185 as my limit

Heading towards our half marathon

Just a quick update - i am still training for the ING half marathon at the end of March. Up to 6 mile runs now and have dropped 15 pounds since the beginning of the year! I am running on a treadmill due to the weather, so GPS stats won't be back up until next month when it warms back up.
